Queen's Day is one of the biggest and most fun holidays in the Netherlands. It is celebrated on 30 April each year. Although celebrated throughout the country Amsterdam remains the centre of all celebrations. On Queen's Night (Koninginnenacht) 29 April and right through  Queen's Day (Koninginnedag), the carnival atmosphere spreads all over the city. DJs play parties on public squares; live music spills onto streets from bars and cafes and the gay-friendly area near the Flower Market erupts into an extravaganza.
