The Amsterdam museum is situated in the heart of the city just off the main shopping street Kalverstraat. It is housed in an old cloister. It is a very important museum for understanding the history of Amsterdam, which is represented chronologically on 3 floors. In addiiton to the permanent exhibition the museum presents interesting annual exhibits.

On weekends and national holidays: 11 A.M. – 5 P.M.
Closed on January 1, April 30 (Queens Day) and December 25 (Christmas).
Closing time on May 4 (Remembrance Day): 2 P.M.
Closing time on December 5, 24 and 31: 4 P.M.
